bits of me,

my name is Shantal.

A lifestyle and documentary photographer based in Malaysia, I’ve always known I wanted to be a photographer since I was 13. It all began when I joined the school’s photography club, and I haven’t looked back since.

I’m a loyal sidekick to my two cats, who never fail to inspire me and admittedly, mess with my work schedule (but I wouldn’t have it any other way). When I’m not working, I’m living that homebody life, just loafing around with them.

I’ve always had a deep love for capturing humans;

real people, real emotions. So often, the feelings we experience in the moment go unnoticed or are taken for granted.

Whether it's a laugh from a conversation, a quiet glance exchanged between loved ones, or the way someone’s eyes light up in a moment of joy. Most of the time, we don’t even realize how special those moments are while they’re happening.

So often, we’re taught to aim for flawless, picture-perfect posed moments, but I’ve learned that it’s in the imperfect little moments where the 'real' happens. Through my lens, I aim to freeze those moments in time, so you
 can look back and remember not just how they looked, but how they felt, reliving that warmth.

capturing human moments.
